The Butcher’s Bill is a 12-week advanced leg specialization program built for lifters who already train hard but want more complete lower-body development. Instead of treating legs as only quads and hamstrings, the program trains every major lower-body unit through four structured leg sessions per week. You’ll learn exactly how to progress your training, manage fatigue and build lean leg mass across three planned phases.

What's Inside

  • • Anatomy and training strategy for all seven lower-body units
  • • Three progressive 4-week phases: Tension, Density and Load
  • • Four structured leg sessions per week with two tracked anchor lifts
  • • Exercise rankings based on loaded range and tension profile
  • • Progression, RIR, intensity techniques and planned taper weeks
  • • Warm-ups, substitutions, nutrition, recovery and autoregulation guidelines

Who This Guide Is For

Written for advanced lifters with at least two years of serious leg training who already understand basic resistance-training technique and want a structured lower-body specialization block. This is not a beginner program—the weekly volume, exercise selection and progression system assume an established strength and training base.

Why train the legs as seven separate units?

Most leg programs revolve around squats, presses, hinges and curls. The Butcher’s Bill takes a more complete approach by directly addressing glutes, quadriceps, hamstrings, adductors, gastrocnemius, soleus, tibialis anterior and hip flexors.

Each muscle is examined by its function, where it is commonly undertrained and which exercises provide the most useful stimulus. Exercise rankings also explain why specific movements were selected and where they fit within the program.

How is the 12-week program structured?

The program is divided into three four-week phases: Tension, Density and Load. Training is spread across four leg sessions per week so that high weekly volume does not have to be forced into one or two excessively long sessions.

Weeks 4, 8 and 12 are taper weeks. Rather than completely stopping training, volume is reduced to manage accumulated fatigue while maintaining useful training load.

How does progression work?

The program focuses on progressing from week to week rather than trying to outperform every previous set within the same workout. Two anchor lifts are tracked throughout the full 12 weeks while other exercises rotate according to the phase.

RIR, loaded stretch, exercise-specific tension profiles and planned intensity techniques determine how hard each movement should be performed.

What does the program include beyond workouts?

The manual also covers warm-ups, exercise substitutions, nutrition for lean leg mass, recovery, sleep, daily steps, autoregulation and what metrics to track.

It also explains how to adjust training when recovery, performance or joints are not responding as expected, giving you a system for running the program rather than simply a list of exercises.

FAQ

Is The Butcher’s Bill suitable for beginners?

No. This is an advanced leg specialization program intended for lifters with at least two years of serious leg training. The weekly volume and intensity assume you already have a solid strength and technique base.

How many days per week do I train legs on this program?

You train legs four times per week, split across Knee Drive, Hip Chain, The Margins and The Gauntlet sessions. The higher frequency allows all lower-body units to receive quality work without forcing excessive volume into a single workout.

How long is The Butcher’s Bill training program?

The program runs for 12 weeks and is divided into three four-week phases. Weeks 4, 8 and 12 are planned taper weeks that reduce fatigue while keeping you training.

What muscles does The Butcher’s Bill train?

The program covers the complete lower body rather than focusing only on quads and hamstrings. It directly addresses glutes, quadriceps, hamstrings, adductors, gastrocnemius, soleus, tibialis anterior and hip flexors, with calf training separated by function.
